Deaflympics & Tokyo - 9 Days
This was a really fun trip to plan - a family traveling to watch a member participate in the Deaflympics, the International Olympics for Deaf People. Since they are traveling so far, they also wanted to check out Tokyo a bit, as well as the area around Ibaraki, where they are staying to be nearby to the event location. Because a lot of their time is unplanned, I'm deviating from my normal itinerary focused format. They'll be enjoying a walking tour in Tokyo before heading over to the Opening Ceremonies. They are staying for several nights in Tokyo (with time to explore a bit on their own) before renting a car and heading to Ibaraki to a luxurious hotel complete with a spa.
They'll use Ibaraki as a home base, as their family member is playing in the soccer events, which uses J-Village Fukushima as it's headquarters. They'll be able to make the 1.75 hour drive up there on the days his team plays, and explore the area around Ibaraki on the other days. Some of the highlights of the area nearby are the Kairaku-en Gardens in Mito, the Tsukuba Space Center, and Ushiku Daibutsu, the world's third-largest Buddha statue.
I can make trips around your activities!
Remember, each of the trips I plan I customize to meet my traveler's specifications, so if you're traveling to a destination and want to fill time around another activity already planned, or want a reputable guide to take you around a city or two, let me know!
