Exploring Mackinac Island, Michigan & the Great Lakes - 2026

While most of the trips I plan are international, I do also plan domestic trips for my clients. This couple decided they wanted to check out the Great Lakes, including Mackinac Island. They also wanted to take the Amtrak from Chicago home, instead of flying.

They started in Detroit, where they explored the Henry Ford Museum, before heading on to Frankenmuth’s Little Bavaria for a unique German dinner. From there they headed to Mackinac Island for a few days, exploring the car-less island. A bit more time on mainland Michigan and then on to Indiana enroute to Chicago.
