What I'm Working on: My own trip to Jordan & Egypt - April 15, 2026

Well, you might be wondering why you're getting a second What I'm Working On this month - that's because I batched and scheduled the last one before I had to pivot the trip (and subsequently forgot I had scheduled it). With the situation in the Middle East, I no longer thought it wise to travel to Jordan (at least not right now) so I had to cancel my trip to Jordan and Egypt - very sad, it looked like such a great trip, didn't it?! Instead, I'll be heading to Turkey. Check out what I'll be doing below:

Turkey – 7 Days

This trip is a perfect mix of guided touring, ancient history, and those once-in-a-lifetime landscapes Turkey is so well known for. From walking through Roman ruins to watching the sunrise over Cappadocia’s valleys, it’s full of those “pinch me” travel moments.

Itinerary

Day 1 – Istanbul

Hos geldin! Welcome to Turkey. I start the trip in Istanbul with a tour of the Old City and visits to the Hagia Sophia and Topkapi Palace.

Day 2 – Çanakkale

After breakfast, my group travels toward Çanakkale with a really meaningful stop at Gallipoli along the way. It’s a powerful day learning about WWI history and hearing the stories of what took place here before continuing on to this coastal port city.

Day 3 – Troy to Selçuk

Today begins at the ancient city of Troy, where myth and archaeology come together. I’ll explore the ruins and learn about its legendary past before continuing on to Selçuk for the evening. Don't worry, I won't accept any large horse-like statues.

Day 4 – Ephesus

A full day exploring Ephesus today — one of the best-preserved classical cities in the world. Walking through marble streets, temples, and ancient libraries really brings Roman history to life in a powerful, immersive way.

Day 5 – Konya to Cappadocia

The journey continues inland to Konya, where we visit the Mevlana Museum and learn about Rumi and the whirling dervish tradition. From there, we head toward the surreal landscapes of Cappadocia.

Day 6 – Cappadocia

Today is all about Cappadocia’s otherworldly scenery. There’s the option of an early morning hot air balloon flight over the valleys (I'll be photographer, not participant due to my fear of heights), followed by a relaxed day exploring rock formations, cave dwellings, and panoramic viewpoints.

Day 7 – Cappadocia to Istanbul

This afternoon I'll take a flight back to Istanbul, for my last full day. Tomorrow I'll depart Turkey and start making my way back home!
