What I’m Working On: A 9-day destination wedding journey through Italy - March 18, 2026
A wedding in southern Italy with a full week of la dolce vita beforehand!
Italy – 9 Days
This month, I’ve been planning a special Italy trip for a couple and a friend who are heading overseas for a destination wedding near Pompeii. Instead of flying in and out just for the big day, they decided to turn it into a full Italian journey — starting in Tuscany and making their way south through Rome, the Amalfi Coast, and Naples. The focus is simple: great food, iconic history, art, wine, and not feeling rushed from place to place.
Itinerary
Day 1 - Florence
After arriving in Florence, they’ll transfer to their hotel and settle in. With everything within walking distance, it’s an easy first day to shake off travel and enjoy a relaxed evening wandering the historic streets.
Day 2 - Florence & Tuscan Countryside
The morning offers a few great options depending on their mood — a Chianti wine tour , a truffle hunt followed by a long countryside lunch, or a hands-on pasta and tiramisu cooking class in a local home. In the afternoon, they’ll switch gears with a vintage boat cruise along the Arno River, seeing Florence from the water with a glass of wine in hand.
Day 3 - Florence to Rome
Today they head to Rome by train and get settled into their hotel in the historic center. The rest of the day is free to explore nearby neighborhoods, grab an espresso, and ease into the city’s energy.
Day 4 - Rome
A full “Rome in a Day” guided tour covers all the heavy hitters — Vatican City and the Sistine Chapel for the art, the Colosseum for the history, and stops at the Trevi Fountain and Pantheon along the way. Skip-the-line access keeps the day efficient without feeling overwhelming.
Day 5 - Rome to Sorrento
They’ll travel south to Naples and continue on to Sorrento, their base for exploring the Amalfi Coast. After checking in, they can enjoy a relaxed evening around the main square, with plenty of dining options nearby.
Day 6 - Capri
Today is all about being on the water with a small-group boat tour to Capri. They’ll cruise along the coast, stop to swim and snorkel, and visit the island’s famous sea caves, including the Blue Grotto if conditions allow.
Day 7 - Santa Maria di Castellabate
They transfer south to the Cilento Coast and settle into their hotel near the sea. This quieter stretch of coastline is perfect for slowing things down before the wedding festivities begin.
Day 8 - Wedding Day
It’s wedding day! No plans needed beyond celebrating with friends and enjoying a very special day in southern Italy.
Day 9 - Castellabate to Naples
They’ll transfer back to Naples and settle into their hotel for their final night. It’s a great opportunity for last-minute sightseeing, pizza (of course), and soaking up Naples’ lively atmosphere before heading home the next day.
