Family Trip to Norway - What I'm Working On - September 3rd, 2025
This is an amazing family adventure to Norway!
Norway & 12 Days
When my client came to me, she wanted to explore Norway with her husband and her parents, as their heritage stems from the Scandinavian country. They hope to see a great deal of it while they are there, so I've got them going from Oslo, up to Bodø, over to Ålesund and Geiranger, and down to Bergen.
Itinerary
Day 1 - Oslo
On their first day, they'll enjoy a walking tour of the city, allowing them to get their bearings as well as seeing highlights like the Akershus Fortress - a Medieval fortress turned Renaissance royal residence!
Day 2 - Oslo
As they've indicated they want to explore some on their own, I've left the majority of the day open, but tonight they board a dinner cruise that will take them through the nearby fjords while they eat a locally sourced meal.
Day 3 - Bodø
One more almost full day in Oslo where they can explore and then it is time to fly up to Bodø!
Day 4 - Bodø
Another day, another fjord cruise! But this one takes them past the Saltstraumen, the world's strongest maelstrom (or tidal current), as well as past more beautiful fjords.
Day 5 - Bodø
This family is active, so they wanted to have some hiking while in Norway. Today they'll get their wish as they hike to the top of Keiservarden, a mountain plateau near Bodø.
Day 6 - Bodø
Fjord sightings were really important to them, so today they have another cruise, and this one includes Kjerringøy Handelssted, a 19th century trading post.
Day 7 - Ålesund
After several enjoyable days in Bodø, they are heading to Ålesund today to explore a bit of the coast and inland.
Day 8 - Ålesund
Another active day today as they will be doing a city tour on kayaks! They'll explore the Art Noveau city and see major architectural sites along the way.
Day 9 - Ålesund
Today they head inland to see Geirangerfjord, a UNESCO-listed natural site, as well as some of Norway's other spectacular landscapes.
Day 10 - Bergen
Today they travel south to Bergen for their last city visit for their trip to Norway.
Day 11 - Bergen
Their tour today takes them on a cruise through the local fjords and ends with a trip on the Flåm Railway, the highest mainline railway line in Northern Europe.
Day 12 - Bergen
A dramatic finale to their trip, today they complete a final cruise with a natural waterfall, where they'll sail close enough to catch a bucket of icy mountain water before heading back to Bergen
