What I'm Working On: Thailand - October 21, 2026
A perfect mix of culture, history, and island relaxation in Thailand!
Thailand - 12 Days
This month, I’m working on a Thailand adventure that blends the best of the country without trying to do too much. They’re early risers who love getting out before the crowds, enjoy great food and local experiences, and wanted a trip that included plenty of history, culture, and time to relax. They’ll explore Bangkok and Chiang Mai, spend time with their son while he’s studying abroad, and finish the trip with a few days in Phuket for some well-earned downtime.
Itinerary
Day 1 - Bangkok
After arriving in Bangkok, they’ll settle into their hotel along the Chao Phraya River and take it easy after their long journey. With an early start planned for the next morning, tonight is all about getting settled and enjoying their first taste of Thailand.
Day 2 - Bangkok
They’ll start early with a private Bangkok highlights tour, visiting the colorful Pak Klong Talad flower market, the Grand Palace, and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. After lunch, they’ll cross the Chao Phraya River to explore Wat Arun, giving them a great introduction to Bangkok’s history, culture, and temples.
Day 3 - Bangkok & Kanchanaburi
Today takes them outside the city to explore Thailand’s history and local life. They’ll visit the Maeklong Railway Market and Damnoen Saduak Floating Market before continuing to Kanchanaburi, where they’ll learn more about the area’s World War II history and see the famous River Kwai Bridge.
Day 4 - Chiang Mai
They’ll fly north to Chiang Mai and settle into their boutique riverside hotel. With their son studying abroad here, they’ll have some time to reconnect and start exploring the city together.
Day 5 - Chiang Mai
Today is all about getting out into nature and seeing a different side of northern Thailand. They’ll visit an ethical elephant sanctuary, help prepare food for the rescued elephants, and then head to Sticky Waterfall for a chance to climb the unique limestone rocks or cool off in the water.
Day 6 - Chiang Mai
They’ll spend the day getting a taste of everyday life in Chiang Mai with a local family. At a traditional Lanna home, they’ll learn about Thai cooking, explore the family garden, and prepare an authentic Northern Thai meal together.
Day 7 - Phuket
The couple will head south to Phuket today, trading the mountains of Chiang Mai for the beaches of southern Thailand. After checking into their resort, they can slow things down and enjoy a relaxed evening by the water.
Day 8 - Krabi & Four Islands
Today they’ll venture out to explore some of southern Thailand’s beautiful islands and beaches. The day includes stops at Koh Tup, Chicken Island, Koh Poda, and Phra Nang Cave Beach, with plenty of opportunities for swimming, snorkeling, and enjoying the scenery.
Day 9 - Khao Sok National Park
They’ll take a break from the beach with a full-day adventure to Khao Sok National Park. With jungle trekking, canoeing, and incredible rainforest scenery, it’s a completely different side of Thailand and a great change of pace.
Day 10 - Phuket
After several busy days of exploring, today is wide open for some downtime. They can enjoy the resort, relax by the water, or simply take the morning slowly before making the most of their final full day in Thailand.
Day 11 - Phuket
One more relaxed day in Phuket to enjoy at their own pace. Whether they spend it enjoying the resort, exploring the local area, or finding a great spot for one last Thai meal, there’s no need to rush.
Day 12 - Goodbye, Thailand
Their Thailand adventure comes to an end today as they head to Phuket International Airport for the journey home. After two weeks of temples, markets, history, local experiences, nature, and a little beach time, they’ll be heading home with plenty of memories to take with them.
