What I am Working On: South Africa & Victoria Falls - June 17, 2026

A graduation trip with adventure, wildlife, and beautiful scenery.

South Africa & Victoria Falls – 9 Days

This month, I’m planning an unforgettable journey for my repeat clients, who are heading out on a once-in-a-lifetime safari through South Africa and Victoria Falls. They let their graduating son determine where their family trip would go this year, and what a great decision he made! From Cape Town’s historic highlights and adrenaline-filled shark cage diving to Big Five game drives and the thundering beauty of Victoria Falls, this trip blends culture, wildlife, and iconic natural wonders in the best way possible.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Cape Town

They arrive in Cape Town and transfer to their hotel for check-in. After a long couple of flights, they'll hunker down and relax to be ready for their morning activities tomorrow.

Day 2 - Cape Town

The day begins with a private half-day Cape Town city tour, including Signal Hill, Castle of Good Hope, Company’s Garden, Parliament Buildings, and the colorful Bo-Kaap district, with a stop at a diamond workshop. In the afternoon, they take the ferry from the V&A Waterfront to Robben Island for a guided tour of Nelson Mandela’s former prison and the island’s historic sites.

Day 3 - Gansbaai (Shark Cage Diving)

Today they travel to Gansbaai for a shark cage diving experience in one of the world’s top great white shark hotspots. On board the Slashfin, they’ll come face-to-face with these apex predators, with possible sightings of whales, dolphins, seals, and African penguins along the way.

Day 4 - Kapama Private Game Reserve

They transfer from Cape Town to Hoedspruit, then continue to Kapama Private Game Reserve and check in. In the afternoon, they head out on a private game drive across this 12,000-hectare Big Five reserve, followed by high tea and an evening game viewing experience before dinner at the lodge.

Day 5 - Panorama Route

A full-day private tour explores Mpumalanga’s Panorama Route, including the Three Rondavels, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, Lisbon Falls, and God’s Window. It’s a scenic day filled with dramatic landscapes, deep canyons, and some of South Africa’s most iconic viewpoints.

Day 6 - Kapama Private Game Reserve

They enjoy both morning and afternoon private game drives with expert rangers, offering excellent chances to spot the Big Five and other wildlife. In between drives, they relax at the lodge and enjoy the peaceful bush surroundings.

Day 7 - Johannesburg

An early morning game drive offers a final safari experience before transferring to Hoedspruit Airport and flying to Johannesburg. Upon arrival, they take a shuttle transfer to their hotel near the airport for check-in and an overnight stay.

Day 8 - Victoria Falls

They fly from Johannesburg to Victoria Falls Airport, followed by a hotel transfer and check-in. Later that day, they take a guided tour of the Zimbabwean side of Victoria Falls, walking through rainforest viewpoints overlooking one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.

Day 9 - Victoria Falls

Their final full day is dedicated to a whitewater rafting adventure on the Zambezi River, one of the world’s most famous and powerful rafting experiences. They’ll navigate class 3–5 rapids through Batoka Gorge and enjoy a barbecue lunch with incredible river views, rounding off an unforgettable safari journey.
